about

I’ll cup my love around the nape of your neck
Hold your head in my hands until I leave fingerprints,
That which tell of the journey that passed through our natures

As we lay swollen in the riverbed of hope and fears reawakened
The water of lesson will pass this way
And wash away
And dusty time with its dried out mirages will feast against new hollowed hearts
In the drift wood left in the waters wake

Will there come a time when my fingers and my heart and the journey of the water will not billow into forgetfulness, nor forge discouragement in its knots, or smooth the ridges on my palm?
I remember the bubbling hope, the raw anticipation of freshly precipitated ideas.

Whilst flashflooding terror ripped through our caked floors and drowned us til we became soft once more, To the trail where I could trace the hyperbole of your experienced hands and mine.

I remember…just.

But the water is gone.
The skies have not cried and my knotted heart gathers age.
I’ll forget to hold you, and tell you the journey.
I’ll even forget the seedling green in your eye, and the ones you must have seen in mine.
And my drifting driftwood heart will clothe itself in apathy and silt.

I see you reach with your cupped hand to feed me some water you hid in a dark hole, so it wouldn’t evaporate from your thoughts,
Then perhaps you could inspire me to inspect my fingers again.
Retrace the lifelines that I tried to impress upon your conscience.

Feel the fear of all that is new and learned.

Fill the hollows of my heart with enough to feed the seed in our eyes.

For the water of lesson shall pass this way again.
Straight through the crevices of our memorable hands.
Will nourish our lips when we cup them and feed eachother the hope and fear to live in wild loving terror,
until our sun-baked floors are soft.
